‘Forever in our hearts’: Tributes are paid to teenager who died following car crash – as two men are arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving

Tributes have been paid to a teenager who died following a crash in Kent on Saturday night – as two men have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The victim, named locally as Darcy, was killed when the VW Polo GTI she was in collided with a white Mercedes Sprinter on the A20 near the junction with Eglantine Lane near Farningham.

Four others in the VW were taken to hospital after the collision at 10.50pm on February 11. 

Two still remain there, with one in a serious but stable condition and the other in a stable condition.

One read: ‘Darcy, forever in our hearts. Sleep well.’

Kent Police said: ‘At around 10.50pm on Saturday 11 February 2023, a Red VW Polo GTI was travelling towards Farningham on the A20 Gorse Hill when it was involved in a collision with a white Mercedes Sprinter travelling in the opposite direction.

‘The collision happened near the junction with Eglantine Lane and was attended by officers along with the South East Coast Ambulance Service.

‘A passenger in the VW, a woman in her late teens, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Four other occupants in the VW were taken to hospital where two remain, one in a serious but stable condition and the other in a stable condition.’

‘Two men believed to be the drivers of the vehicles were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and were later bailed to return to the police station.

‘Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is carrying out enquiries and officers are appealing to anyone who saw what happened, or has relevant dashcam or CCTV footage, to come forward.
