NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party held a protest on Thursday over a Central Bureau of Investigation report claiming that Feedback Unit, which was established by Aam Aadmi Party after their 2015 victory in Delhi, was involved in political snooping.
Delhi BJP working president Virendra Sachdeva led the protest march from ITO to Delhi Secretariat.
Sachdeva alleged that the incident was the biggest proof of misuse of absolute majority given to the AAP government. “Today when the preliminary CBI report is out, an FIR is likely to be lodged against Sisodia. It’s time for Sisodia to accept responsibility and resign,” he said.
The leader of the opposition, Ramveer Singh Bidhuri, said that when the government of Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar was accused by Congress of spying on Rajiv Gandhi’s family, the government fell. “But today, government records are telling that the Kejriwal’s government is involved in spying on opponents,” he alleged.
Senior BJP leader Vijay Goel claimed that Arvind Kejriwal and his government bought cameras and other things in Delhi only for spying. “Inquiry into the working of investigating agencies and collecting information on them is a big threat, which has been exposed,” he alleged.
CBI in its report, which was submitted to the vigilance department, sought approval of LG VK Saxena to register cases against Sisodia who played an “active role” in creation of the unit and others involved in its functioning.
AAP and its government, however, have repeatedly claimed that the allegations are completely bogus and politically motivated.
